    JOB DESCRIPTION:  $12.34 per hour HS Diploma/GED                 $12.96 per hour with Credential                           $13.62 per hour with AA Degree                   $14.39 per hour with BA Degree

    This position supports and assists families as they identify and meet their own goals through a family-centered case management model for developing and carrying out the program Family Partnership Agreements including responsibility for child files, ERSEA eligibility/enrollment/applications, etc.  This position also assists with the completion of the child health requirements and other required screenings and assessments.  This position supports the larger system of social services coordinated by Head Start, thereby supporting the goals of the program. The position may involve reassignment of caseloads and/or center location as deemed necessary for program operations. 

    EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES-- ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS     

    Program Development and Planning 

    1.     Coordinates the planning of a case management system that ensures family and child services are provided within the established timelines.

     

    Program Implementation

    1. Recruits prospective families and determines child’s eligibility and routes child’s application through the selection process to determine the enrollment priority for the child.
    2. Acts as a case manager and works cooperatively with local agencies to assist families to linkup with services in the local community.

    Knowledge:

    Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and human behavior. Knowledge of human development and health.  Knowledge of the social services and health services available in the area. Knowledge of computer data entry processes.

     

    Recordkeeping

    1. Documents efforts to assist families in identifying their strengths, needs and sufficiency goals. Performs data entry functions as necessary to keep files up-to-date.  Uses HSFIS/Child Plus or other database software.  

    Abilities:  Ability to exercise professional judgment in evaluating before making decisions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, parents, outside agencies and the public. Ability to use computer for data entry functions.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum education requirement is a High School Diploma/GED but within eighteen months of hire, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.

    Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area).

    ASSISTANT COOK

    JOB TITLE:   ASSISTANT COOK

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Kim Frederick-Norwood, Health/Nutrition Manager

    GENERAL SUMMARY: $9.17 per hour

    The position of Assistant Cook is one role in a large system of services provided to children and families.  A strong food service program is important to supporting the goals of the program.  This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks and the clean up afterwards.  It includes following menus and all phases of kitchen operations.  The position contributes to the smooth operations and functioning of the kitchen in adherence to health and food safety codes and the strict cleanliness of the kitchen, food service and storage areas. It also contributes to the collection of correct documentation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program. 

    PRIMARY REPONSIBILTIES:

    1. EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES--ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Food Service 

    1. Prepares and serves food and assists in any food related activities as directed by the cook and may include the preparation of food to meet the needs of children with special needs or disabilities.

    2. Assists with inventory for all necessary supplies, food and equipment used for food services operations.

    3. Assists with the processing/storage of food and food related items as they are delivered.

    Health And Sanitation

    1. Follows the established system for cleaning to ensure that the kitchen and storage rooms are kept in a clean and sanitary manner.

    2. Child and Adult Care Food Program

    1. Contributes to the collection and edit processes of correct documentation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

    2. Be knowledgeable about CACFP requirements regarding portions/components of each meal.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED.  Ability to meet state requirements (i.e., kitchen and/or health permit) required.  Some knowledge of food preparation and storage techniques, knowledge of USDA/CACFP program requirements and Head Start Performance Standards related to food and nutrition, knowledge of food preparation and storage techniques, knowledge of USDA/CACFP program requirements, the ability to assist in preparing healthy meals and snacks, and to maintain the kitchen, storage and food service areas in a safe and healthy condition preferred.
