    Nutrition Coordinator

    JOB TITLE:Nutrition Coordinator

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Health Manager

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Nutrition Services are an integral part of the larger system of services provided by Head Start/Early Head Start. It plays an important part in supporting the goals of the program.  This position is responsible for the facilitation of the CACFP, nutrition and food services content areas of the Head Start/Early Head Start program. The position is responsible for collaborating on the development and implementation of the program, claim edit checking, tracking and recordkeeping, community relations and outreach.  This position provides content area training and technical supervision to other agency staff and ensures nutrition services are supported by staff or consultants who are registered dietitians or nutritionists.

    PRIMARY REPONSIBILTIES:

      1. Develops a system for monitoring compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements and the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
      2. Conducts a Pre-Visit to each new location as required and utilizes the state agency required forms to conduct a minimum of three required monitoring visits per center per CACFP program year.Conducts additional monitoring reviews that are state specific.
      3. Establishes policies and procedures for the CACFP/nutrition portion of the program with parents and staff that support the effective implementation of food/nutrition services.
      4. Works cooperatively with staff person responsible for fiscal/AR in monitoring the fiduciary aspect of the CACFP program and completing the state application for sponsorship in cooperation with Denver.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum requirement is an associate degree in a nutrition, health, accounting, or finance field or other closely related field.  Consideration may be given to applicants with a high school diploma and a minimum of 2 years CACFP experience who meet additional qualifications listed.  Experience working in nutrition and or food service arena and working with low-income clients preferred.  Experience and knowledge of family-strengths/family-centered practice preferred. Strong mathematical or fiscal experience and knowledge preferred. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

    Mentor Teacher

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Education Service Manager

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    This position is responsible to mentor a group of teachers providing guidance, training and technical assistance, oversee and monitor child development activities and planning.  Receives content area supervision, training and technical assistance from content area managers/specialist/coordinators.

    PRIMARY REPONSIBILTIES:

    1. Participates in the development and implementation of an agency-wide T/TA Plan.
    2. Develops and facilitates a positive community presence in the community, focusing on networking opportunities, enhancement of volunteer participation and educational awareness efforts in regard to program needs.
    3. Provides demonstration of best practices in the area of professional development.
    4. Leads professional development activities, including formation of learning communities.
    5. Participates in a formalized peer review process as a formative evaluator.
    6. Conducts strategies for identifying the professional development needs of the staff.
    7. With the staff representative, plans and coordinates center-based professional development opportunities like to individual professional development plans and job competencies.
    8. Follows-up and extends staff development trainings.
    9. Collaborates with colleagues to construct exemplary lesson plans.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or other related degree with at least two years of experience working with young children and families. One year supervisory experience preferred.  Previous Head Start/Early Head Start experience preferred.

    Teacher Preschool

    JOB TITLE:Teacher Preschool

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Center Supervisor

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    This position serves as the lead worker in a classroom of Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom activities. This position works with typically developing children and children with disabilities.  Because this position is one part of a large system of services provided to children and families, this position also serves as a social service referral person and shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program. The position of Teacher works in tandem with the rest of the parts of the system as an integrated team to support the goals of the program. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations.  The position may serve as “site director” for child care licensing purposes.

    PRIMARY REPONSIBILTIES:

    1. Attends all required training and workshops to include but not limited to 15 hours of classroom focused professional development and methods that comply with applicable State and local laws for identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect.
    2. Remains up-to-date on information that pertains to the needs of the children in the program including Head Start Performance Standards, child care licensing regulations and other applicable regulations and practices.
    3. Works as a team member with the other education staff, parents and Parent Committee members to develop a curriculum that is meaningful and meets the individual and program needs.
    4. Responsible for the weekly preparation of daily lesson plans, which includes objectives to be posted for parents, volunteers and visitors in the classroom.
    5. Develops an individual plan for each child to include goal setting based on identified needs and prescriptions for objectives and activities to meet established goals (outcomes).

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. An associate degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education and coursework* equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an early childhood setting teaching preschool-age children;
    2.  A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field and coursework*  equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an early childhood setting teaching preschool-age children
