    This position serves as the lead worker in a classroom of Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom activities. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. The position may serve as “site director” for child care licensing purposes.

    Minimum requirement is an AA in Early Childhood Education or coursework equivalent to a major relating to ECE with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an Early Childhood setting teaching preschool age children.

    OPERATION MANAGER

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    • Understands, generates and documents in-kind and other allowable costs applied toward the non-federal share requirement.
    • Attends all workshops and meetings as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
    • Attends all required staff and parent meetings and activities.
    • Responsible for understanding Head Start Performance Standards and local child care licensing regulations.
    • Expected to be knowledgeable of the regulations associated with prevention of occupational disease and injury, including the exercise of universal precautions and the prevention of contamination.
    • Positively promotes Head Start in the community.
    • Models and exercises supervisory authority to support other employees in the execution of work duties in a manner consistent with CDI Head Start standards for compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, including CDI Head Start policies and procedures reflecting best practices. Adherence to the procedure for Policy Council approval or disapproval of hiring and termination decisions made by CDI Head Start as described in the Head Start Performance Standards (Section 1304.50) is required. In addition, supervisors are expected to model exemplary standards of ethical behavior and exercise careful stewardship of program funds, and support those they supervise in adhering to those standards.
    • Becomes thoroughly familiar with CDI Head Start Employee Handbook: Human Resources Policies and Procedures, CDI Head Start Operations Manual and all other CDI HS handbooks, manuals and resources and adheres to them.
    • Plans and directs the work of the staff supervised. Observes and gives feedback to staff or volunteers supervised where applicable and other staff as assigned on at least a weekly basis.
    • Makes appropriate personnel decisions that do not require higher approval and submits others as a recommendation to the supervisor.
    • Determines appropriate training needs to meet the program goals and objectives and makes the necessary recommendations.
    • Develops and supports the professional development plan for staff supervised.
    • Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start/Early Head Start children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • Monitors compliance with the content area work plans.
    • Develops and implements a plan and system of continuous ongoing monitoring and evaluation of activities within the program.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    A bachelor’s degree in business management, public administration, food service, construction management or other closely related business area is required at a minimum. Courses, training or work experience which includes budgeting, personnel, and supervision are required.

     Minimum requirement is one of the following:

    1. A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential;
    2. Be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of being hired into the position;

    An associate or baccalaureate degree (in any area); or be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree. Bilingual preferred.

    SUMMARY:

     The Education and Early Childhood Development content area is an integral part of the larger system of services provided by Head Start/Early Head Start. It plays an important part in supporting the goals of the program. This position is responsible for the education and early childhood development portion of the Head Start Performance Standards. This includes assisting the Education Coordinator develop an early childhood education curriculum and providing educational resources for staff and parents, ensuring compliance with performance standards and recognized best practices in the field of early childhood education. The position ensures the education and child development services are supported by working with staff/consultants on training and experience in areas that include the theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education and family support.

    QUALIFICATION:

     Current minimum qualification is one of the following:

    1. An Associate degree or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education; or

    2. An associate or advanced degree in any field and coursework* equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an early childhood setting teaching preschool-age children such as Education, Home Economics, Music, Art, Library Sciences, Physical Education and Recreation, Psychology, Family Studies, and others.

    General Summary:

    This position is one role in a large system of services provided to children and families.  A strong food service program is important to supporting the goals of the program.  This position is responsible the ordering, preparing, serving and documenting of meals and snacks.  It includes following menus and all phases of kitchen operations including inventory control.  The position contributes to the smooth operations and functioning of the kitchen in adherence to health and food safety codes and the strict cleanliness of the kitchen and food service and storage areas.  The position may prepare foods for infants and toddlers and/or preschool children following the USDA/CACFP standards.  Position may involve reassignment to various kitchens/centers as deemed necessary for program operations.

     

    Qualification and Requirements:

    The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED and has food preparation experience and be able to comply with any state food permit/health requirements.    Experience in quantity food preparation and inventory control is preferred.  Previous Head Start/Early Head Start experience preferred.

     

    Pay: $11:40 Hourly
