Dear Parents:

Head Start services in the counties including Bulloch, Burke, Columbia, Emanuel, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Screven, and Warren, will no longer be provided by CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc.

The Office of Head Start (OHS) has deployed its interim service provider, Community Development Institute Head Start (CDI HS), to provide Head Start services on an interim basis for the following counties Bulloch, Burke, Columbia, Emanuel, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Screven, and Warren. Families who received Head Start services at the centers listed below will be contacted as soon as possible while we work to begin the licensing process to start serving your family.

Additionally, OHS has selected another organization as the Head Start recipient to provide services for families in Richmond County, Georgia. Families who received services at the centers identified below will receive additional information from Early Childhood Development Company, LLC/YMCA in the coming weeks.

We have a team arriving in your local community to work in the following key areas to begin operations as soon as possible:

• Staffing
• Facilities (including licensing)
• Vendors (having vendor agreements in place, including food)
• Insurance (secure all of the legal insurances required)
• Transportation (if applicable)

The role of CDI HS is to provide services to children and families until a replacement grantee is selected by the federal Office of Head Start. This could be several months or longer to complete. It is important to note, CDI HS does not participate in the federal process to select of a new Head Start provider.

You may also contact your child’s teacher who will be receiving more information as they participate in the upcoming Startup process. Part of the process will include you electing parent members to the CDI HS Policy Council within the first 30-45 days of CDI HS operations. The Policy Council structure will be provided prior to the election process, and you will be receiving a guide to Parent Committees titled The Parent Voice.

From September 1, 2024, until the election of the regular Policy Council, an interim/temporary Policy Council will be formed.
