Dear Head Start and Early Head Start Staff:
Educational Service District #105 will no longer provide Head Start/Early Head Start services in Chelan, Okanogan, Douglas, and Yakima Counties, WA after Saturday, January 31, 2026. Beginning on Sunday, February 1, 2026, Community Development Institute Head Start (CDI HS) will be responsible for providing Head Start/Early Head Start services in this area on an interim basis.

The goal of CDI HS is to serve Head Start/Early Head Start children with minimal disruption of services to children and families. We will have a team in your local community beginning the week of January 5, 2026, that will be working in the following key areas to begin operations as soon as possible:
- Facilities (including licensing)
- Vendors (having vendor agreements in place, including food)
- Insurance (secure all of the legal insurances required)
- Transportation
The role of CDI HS is to provide services to children and families until a replacement grantee is selected through the Federal grant competition system utilized by the Office of Head Start. This could be several months or longer. As a Migrant/Seasonal program, we will serve families approximately the same timeframe they were served by the Prior Recipient, unless needs change before the season begins. We will remain in contact with you as decisions are made during the next few months.
You are invited to meet with representatives from CDI HS and the Office of Head Start Regional Office on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm via Zoom. This meeting will provide information about the interim process and how to apply for employment with CDI HS.
